Canada finally got a 2nd medal, it's silver from Karen Cockburn in women's trampoline. Canada is doing really bad in this Olympics, I think it might be worse ever. Our swimming athletes did terrible as former Olympic gold medalist in swimming Mark Tewksbury told CBC's Brian Williams.
More info on the Olympics:
With regards to swimming, can you believe Michael Phelps of the US has like 7 medals now. Even though he didn't beat Mark Spitz's record of 8 gold medals, that still is an amazing feat. Why doesn't Canada have a swimmer like Phelps, our only really good swimmer we had was Alex Baumann and Victor Davis from the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
On another note, I just found out in Toronto that today is the opening of the Olympic Spirit entertainment venue which is supposed to showcase all the stuff about the Olympics, with sport simulators and make you feel you are in the Olympic games and how the athletes feel. More info here. I definitely would like to go here.
Hopefully, we can improve and Canada can get some medals in rowing, track and field and other sports. Go Canada go!

Finally, Canada has won a gold medal! Kyle Shewfelt won it in men's floor exercise, it's the first gold medal for Canada in gymnastics! Also Chantel Petticlerc won gold in the 800m wheelchair event (but the medal doesn't count as part of Canada's total, so we still have only 4 :( ). Canada crashed in the women's 10 m platform diving, Emilie Haymans couldn't win a medal and came a disappointing 4th. The men's 8 rowing team also didn't win, and came in 5th. A lot of Canadian hopefuls didn't do too well, Heese and Childs for men's basketball didn't advance either. Something needs to be done for Canada's olympic team.
Today, the Canadian Olympic council said that the people of Canada need to be enthusiastic and wholeheartedly want to win the Olympics and pressure the governments to give more funding. Sure funding may be required but there's more to it than that. Like Brian Williams said of the CBC, the whole system needs to be analyzed and changed. We've been going downhill since the '80s. Other countries don't have much money and sponsorships, and yet they're doing better than Canada.
On a good note, Gail Devers (a gold favorite to win for US) didn't even finish her hurdles due to her lower leg hurting. So this gives Perdita Felicien of Canada a chance of winning! And the men's baseball team beat Australia, so we are now into the medal rounds where we are going to play Cuba.
The men's gold medal tennis match was just amazing against Mardy Fish of US and Nicholas Massu of Chile. Fish was leading 2 sets to 1, and then Massu came back to win it in 5 sets. It was a grueling matching for Massu since he also played a 4 hour doubles match with his partner the Bronze medalist Fernando Gonzalez who beat another US player, Taylor Dent. Looks like Nestor and Niemeyer couldn't get to the medal rounds.
It's getting very painful to see the Canadians on TV for the Olympics, I just can't see it because I am afraid that they won't make it, it's so nerve wracking! Let's hope we can turn it around, and salvage at least some more medals.
Canada now has a silver medal we won yesterday in women's wrestling, and we just won gold in women's cycling upping our medal count to 6. Alexander Despatie dives in the finals for Canada and in hurdles, Perdita Felicien is our hopeful for a medal.
Kyle Shewfelt got denied a bronze for the jump but it was clearly shown that he had a better score than the Romanian Dragolescu who almost fell on his landing.
Let's hope that Canada can win more medals! Go Canada go!
